After towing your caravan down narrow country lanes surrounded by scratchy hedgerows all summer, you might find yourself needing to replace your caravan windows. Now replacing the window is straightforward enough, but if any of its fixtures - such as caravan window stays, catches, or seals - are also damaged then these will need to be sourced separately.
With the kids back in school and the summer touring season winding to a close, now is the ideal time to carry out any replacements, so read on for our guide to the most popular window spares that you may need after a summer of travelling.

What are caravan window stays?
The summer heatwaves may have cooled off, but you’ll still want to be able to open your caravan windows and let in some fresh air this autumn.
To keep your windows open, you’ll need functioning caravan window stays fitted to either side. These fixtures come with a level lock to secure the window in place and stop it from swinging closed, and are easy to replace if they become damaged.
We supply Polyfix, Plastoform, and Perma-Fix options, all of which are only suitable for certain window brands, so it’s important to check that you’ve picked the right one before adding it to your online basket.
What are caravan window catches?
Just as caravan window stays keep the window open, caravan window catches keep it closed. They secure the window against the rubber seal and sometimes come with push button locks (see our full range of caravan window locks below), that can only be unlocked from the inside.
Since they get used plenty in all seasons it’s not uncommon for them to break down after some time, but without a functioning catch your window may fail to shut properly and swing open instead, allowing moisture to gradually seep in and cause all sorts of problems.
It will also let in those harsh winter winds that ruin any caravanning trip, so test out your windows today and order your replacement catches if they won’t stay closed.
What are caravan window seals?
Caravan window seals are rubber strips that fit tightly between the window and the walls of your caravan to keep out the elements. These include high winds, snow flurries, and even mould in the worst cases, but the most common indicator of a damaged window seal is unexplained water ingress.
There haven’t been many opportunities to check for rain leaking through your windows during the dry summer months, which means that your seals may have deteriorated without you even noticing. If this is the case, then it is better to find out sooner rather than later, so that you can replace them for a watertight fit before the autumn weather sets in.
What are caravan window locks?
Unlike the other products mentioned above, caravan window locks are not separate fixtures - rather, they are integral locks that are built directly into the window handle.
These locking handles are designed to give caravans an extra layer of security whilst on the road, as they cannot be forced open from the outside, but unfortunately they do not come as standard and some older models may not have them.
The good news, however, is that they are compatible with most Polyplastic windows, so if you want to upgrade or replace your current one then a Polylock handle is the option for you.

Are any of these window spares on your September shopping list?
We offer them all for UK-wide delivery, and here’s everything you need to know before placing your order:
● The make of your window: Most spares are not compatible with windows from other manufacturers, as their style, length, and size can vary greatly.
● The window measurements: Window seals are sold by the metre, so measure around the window edge and note down the thickness of the caravan walls too.
● Any additional supplies: If you find yourself in need of any more spares when replacing a stay or catch, then you’re in the right place.
