The best caravan air con for summer adventures

Caravan air con

We all enjoy a relaxing trip in our caravans or motorhomes to make the most of the (hopefully) glorious summer weather, but it can quickly become uncomfortable if you don’t have the right caravan air con unit to keep you cool whilst on the road.

That’s why we’ve recently updated our range to include both the SPA-3000 and SPA-5000 Mestic Split Unit Air Conditioners, so if you’re planning on hitting the road this June make sure you check them out today in our ‘New Arrivals’ section.

If you’re looking for air conditioning that can do it all, no matter the weather, then these caravan air con units from Mestic are the ones to beat.

No matter how hot it gets outside, you will always be able to enjoy your caravan thanks to these game-changing air con units that cool your leisure vehicle all day long. They have a handy digital display that lets you adjust the temperature between 16 °C to 30 °C, and you can also use this to cool, ventilate, and even dehumidify your caravan at the touch of a button.

Don’t worry about the noisy air flow disrupting your relaxing holiday - these units come with 3 speeds to choose from and they even have a Night Mode that turns the units’ lights off and automatically switches to the lowest speed so you can enjoy a peaceful night's sleep without overheating.

Installing the Mestic caravan air con unit

Their split unit design makes them quick and easy to install. All you have to do is mount the interior and exterior units in your window and adjust the brackets until they are secure. The two units are connected by thin ventilation tubes, so you will only need to keep the window slightly ajar to use it, and this adjustable system means that the units are compatible with almost all caravans and motorhomes.

If you don’t need the air con for a short period of time, then you can easily remove it and reinstall it once you need it, but you won’t need to bring the units inside during bad weather. The outdoor unit is protected against rain by its insulation class (IPX4), so even though it’s unlikely that you will encounter lots of rainstorms on your summer travels, the system will not be affected even if you do.

Other measures

Caravans and motorhomes can quickly trap heat and become unbearably warm on sunny days unless they are cooled by an air con unit and properly ventilated throughout the day.

The Mestic units are a great source of cooling air but all caravans can benefit from additional measures to keep them at a reasonable temperature, so keep it cool this summer with our top tips for beating the heat:

Utilise shade: Pitch your vehicle close to trees to make the most of their natural shade and get to your caravan park nice and early to have your pick of the shady spots.

Open windows: Open all the windows on the side of your caravan that isn’t facing the sun to improve ventilation and cool the space.

Close blinds: Close the blinds for a few minutes wherever the heat becomes unbearable and invest in some window films to prevent the UV rays (and heat) from entering your vehicle.

Pitch an awning: Awnings can provide additional shade for your vehicle, so keep the air flowing through it by rolling up the doors and windows.

Cook outside: Cooking outside will keep the heat out of your caravan, so invest in a BBQ or outdoor grill before your next trip or take the opportunity to visit some local restaurants!
